Want Glowing Skin? Get Juicing!
I have taken the plunge.  Recently I went from only blending fruits and vegetables as in the Glowing Green Smoothie  to juicing them in the morning  for that instant rush of easily digestible micronutrients and live enzymes.  I am loving my Omega J8006 Nutrition Center and use it for everything including grinding my own nut butters, making baby food, even making my own coconut oil and coconut cream.  I  even make my own nut milks and flours.  Since it is very warm where we live most of the year we eat a lot of raw foods in the summer which have a more cooling effect on the body.  Cooling juices like fresh cucumber, celery, and apple are some of my favorite treats in the afternoon.
When I started juicing, I noticed an instant brightening of my eyes and clearing of my skin (and I have light porcelain skin that I thought was already really clear after beginning blending) as a benefit. Â That was a huge benefit for me. Â As I got deeper into juicing, I figured out which fruits and vegetables had a skin smoothing, anti-aging, or clearing benefit. Â Today I share my two favorite skin booster recipes with you, my readers.
First up we have a beautiful berry based juice that is very blackberry heavy.  Berries are full of skin-loving antioxidants. Blackberries are full of anti-inflammatory properties  which not only help conditions like arthritis and gout, but also are beautifully beneficial for depuffing eyes and skin.  Blackberries are high in Vitamin C, E, and A (imperative for good eyesight) and are high in selenium (skin clearing benefits great for acne prone skin).  They also help neutralize free radicals and protect against environmental toxins.
Berry Good Skin Booster
1 1/2 cup blackberries
1 cup blueberries
1 cup strawberries
1 cup raspberries
I recommend a masticating juicer rather than a centrifugal juicer for pretty much every fruit and vegetable simply because it cuts down on the wastage of produce by chewing and pressing fruits and vegetables.  Centrifugal juicers also create heat from the high speeds that the blade must go to chew up the produce which destroy live enzymes more.  If cost is a big factor I recommend the Breville Juice Fountain as the top of the line centrifugal juicer.  For berries, use the lowest speed and fill the chute, pressing down gently with the pusher to avoid a lot of the waste.
“Fruit and vegetable juices, prepared in the right combinations, can help you to remove crud from your blood and tissues and restore alkalinity and balance to your system,” says Noelle Swatland of GreenLemonade.com. “You see the benefits of this crud removal in younger looking skin and greater energy.”
Our favorite  skin clearer involves two ingredients:
2 cucumbers
1/2 of an apple
Optional  additions:  Juice of 1 lemon, a handful of mint, a little parsley.
There you have it. Â Two of our favorite recipes for clear, beautiful skin. Â Keep reading for more healthy juice recipes as we continue our detox/ health balance/ beauty journey.
